The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which tracks rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, was down for a second session on Friday, falling by 0.4% to its lowest since September 3 at 3,507 points. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also decreased for a second day, down 0.7% to 6,080 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 0.1% to 2,407 points. On the other hand, the supramax index rose by 0.3% to 1,719 points. The benchmark index declined 3.3% for the week.
