European equities extended their rally on Wednesday, with the EURO STOXX 50 rising 0.5% to a record 6,060 points and the broader STOXX 600 gaining around 0.3% to an all-time high of 612, supported by strong advances in energy stocks. RWE jumped more than 3% after the utility emerged as one of the project developers awarded guaranteed electricity price contracts in the UK’s latest offshore wind auction, which secured a record level of capacity, according to the government. Elsewhere, investors took encouragement from stronger-than-expected Chinese trade data, while attention shifted to a potential US Supreme Court ruling on the legality of President Trump’s tariffs. Luxury stocks were also in focus, with Kering and LVMH named as unsecured creditors of high-end department store group Saks Global, which filed for bankruptcy late Tuesday.
